Kevin Spacey, who stars as the series' scheming, Machiavellian congressman (and soon-to-be vice president), has signed on for a third season, along with Robin Wright, who plays his chilly wife. The rest of the principle cast will also return, with shooting to begin soon in Baltimore.

Based on a 1990 British series of the same name, House of Cards' first season debuted all at once on the streaming-video service. It received nine Emmy nominations, including acting awards for Spacey and Wright.
