The actor is one Oscar away from the EGOT status, having already won an Emmy in 2005 for Outstanding Individual Performance in a Variety or Music Program for hosting the 58th annual Tony Awards; and having already won a Tony in 2004 for his role as singer-songwriter Peter Allen in The Boy from Oz.

Jackman celebrated his Grammy win on Twitter, uploading a video of himself hearing that the soundtrack for The Greatest Showman had won.

"And the @RecordingAcad goes to ... @GreatestShowman @AtlanticRecords @pasekandpaul and the entire cast and crew! #Grammy," Jackman said.

John Legend became the latest artist to achieve EGOT status in September. Past EGOT winners include Robert Lopez, Helen Hayes, Rita Moreno, John Gielgud, Audrey Hepburn, Whoopi Goldberg, Richard Rodgers, Marvin Hamlisch, Jonathan Tunick, Mike Nichols, Scott Rudin and Mel Brooks.

Jackman is set to embark on a worldwide arena tour that will feature him performing songs from The Greatest Showman and Les Miserables.

Jackman announced through a comedic video on Twitter Monday that he will be opening The 2019 BRIT Awards with a Greatest Showman performance.
