Sept. 18 (UPI) -- London's Metropolitan Police said on Monday that they have received a sexual assault report against actor Russell Brand in connection with media reports on Sunday that alleged he has been involved in numerous offenses.

"On Sunday, Sept. 17, the Met received a report of a sexual assault which was alleged to have taken place in Soho in central London in 2003," a spokesperson from the Met Police said.

The spokesperson added police are in contact with the woman and "will be providing her with support."

The report comes on the heels of the allegations by women to The Sunday Times and Channel 4's Dispatches about Brand dating back numerous years.

"We first spoke with the Sunday Times on Saturday 16 September and have since made further approaches to the Sunday Times and Channel 4 to ensure that anyone who believes they have been the victim of a sexual offense is aware of how to report this to the police."

The Sunday Times and Channel 4 looked into the allegations made against Brand from 2006 to 2013. Two of the incidents happened in the United States.

One woman accused Brand of raping her at his Los Angeles home as she tried to leave. A second woman said he sexually assaulted her in Los Angeles where he became "super angry" when he protested his aggression. A third woman claimed he assaulted her in Britain while being physically and emotionally abusive towards her.

Brand has refuted the charges on his YouTube channel.

Brand had a short-lived 14-month marriage to pop star Katy Perry from 2010 to 2011. Perry said in a 2013 interview that Brand "was really hurtful, and it (relationship) was very controlling."
