SOCHI, Russia, Sept. 2 (UPI) -- Russian President Vladimir Putin took part in a hockey game against student players from the Sirius academy for gifted children at the Shaiba area in Sochi, Russia.
Putin's team was comprised of known Russian hockey legends, including Pavel Burea, Vyacheslav Feitsov, Yevgeny Malkin and Alexander Ovechkin. The Russian president's team won 9-5.
Before the Tuesday game, Putin told students that life is filled with "lots of doubts, mistakes, and failure. It is only natural. But it is vital not to step back, not to lose heart and never give up. A key factor of success is the faith in oneself," he said, according to Interfax.
The Sirius educational center in Sochi is designed for students with a talent for the arts, sports or science and created on the initiative of Putin, the Latin American Herald Tribune reported.
In May, Putin also participated in an exhibition game in Sochi where he racked up eight goals.
