Family relieved to have newborn returned after he was kidnapped

TRIPOLI, Libya, Feb. 13 (UPI) -- The family of a newborn boy who was snatched from a hospital in Tripoli, Libya, said they are relieved to have their son returned to them.

A couple who had been visiting the hospital abducted the baby, the Libya Herald reported.

The woman posed as an expectant mother while the boy's parents were signing the discharge papers.

The 7-day-old baby was returned to his parents after the kidnappers took him to the Tripoli Medical Center for a checkup and did not have the necessary documents.

The uncle of the baby, Ali al-Aidoudi, said the family had been sick with worry, and had been unable to sleep or eat during the ordeal.
