ANKARA, Turkey, Jan. 23 (UPI) -- Turkish authorities Thursday removed 167 police officials in Bursa and Ankara amid an ongoing corruption investigation, officials said.
In Bursa, four police chiefs and 159 police officers were removed from the Bursa Police Department's public security, anti-terrorism, anti-smuggling and organized crime units, Today's Zaman reported.

Three police chiefs and one deputy chief were also removed from similar units in the Ankara Police Department.
The removals were part of the corruption investigation, which is possibly related to construction and real estate projects and Turkey's gold trade with Iran, the report said.
