BENGHAZI, Libya, Oct. 18 (UPI) -- The commander of Libya's military police was shot and killed as he left his house in Benghazi Friday, an army spokesman says.
Col. Ahmed al-Barghathi was shot several times and was pronounced dead a short time later at a hospital, The Tripoli Post reported.

The incident was confirmed in a statement posted on the Facebook page of the Chiefs of Staff of the Libyan army.
Another military officer, Lt. Col. Abdulfattah Rayani, was assassinated Sunday as he drove to work.
