Benghazi, Libya, police station bombed

BENGHAZI, Libya, Aug. 2 (UPI) -- The Ras Abeda police station in Benghazi, Libya, was extensively damaged Friday afternoon by a bomb placed in the building, officials said.

The police station had recently been moved to the site of the city's Electricity, Police and Civil Registry building after a previous bombing, the newspaper Libya Herald reported.

The bomb -- weighing between 10 and 15 kilograms (22-33 pounds) -- damaged the station and surrounding buildings, officials said.

The newspaper said no one had claimed responsibility for the attack and no deaths were reported, but children in nearby streets suffered cuts.
