Bahrain policeman killed in bomb blast

SITRA, Bahrain, July 7 (UPI) -- A police officer was killed in Bahrain Saturday while foiling an apparent terrorist attack on a police station, officials said Sunday.

Yasser Dhaib died when an apparent homemade bomb exploded while police secured the area around the Sitra Police Station after intercepting a group of people who were allegedly about to attack the building.

The chief of public security told the Bahrain News Agency that two other officers were injured in the explosion.

The investigation into the incident and search for suspects continued Sunday.
