NOVARA, Italy, Jan. 7 (UPI) -- Friends and relatives of an Italian teenager who committed suicide blame gossipers and bullies for her death, investigators said.
A preliminary reconstruction of events by police indicated the 14-year-old girl jumped to her death from a window in her parents' home in the northern Italian city of Novara, sometime between Friday and Saturday.
News of her death, thus far considered a suicide by investigators, triggered hundreds of Twitter messages from friends and relatives, suggesting the responsibility of "gossip-mongering bullies," The Italian news agency ANSA reported.
"You shouldn't have given a damn. Thought of yourself and not what others say," and "Tomorrow I have to go back to school with those idiots; I can't do it," two Twitter messages read.
The victim attended a party with friends the same night of her death, and was not known to have psychological or other problems, the news agency noted.
