MONTREAL, Oct. 4 (UPI) -- Some $20 million worth of maple syrup stolen from a Quebec warehouse was tracked to a New Brunswick exporter, Quebec provincial police said.
Investigators said as many as 16,000, 45-gallon barrels of syrup were traced to a warehouse in Kedgwick, New Brunswick, The (Montreal) Gazette reported.
Quebec provincial officers and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police executed a search warrant Sept. 26 on the New Brunswick facility, but delayed releasing details until Wednesday, CTV News said.
The syrup has since been returned to an undisclosed location in Quebec.
The thieves had plundered a warehouse housing more than 10 million pounds of syrup in St.-Louis-de-Blandford, northeast of Montreal, in August.
There have been no arrests, but police said they are reviewing security video and tracking tanker truck movements to the New Brunswick warehouse.
