CAIRO, July 13 (UPI) -- The imam of a mosque in Cairo Friday criticized Egypt's judiciary for rejecting newly elected President Mohamed Morsi's decree reinstating Parliament.

Sheik Mazhar Shahin of Omar Makram mosque, speaking to thousands of protesters in Tahrir Square, urged the judiciary not to "abort the revolution" by defying Morsi's decree, Ahram Online reported.

Morsi's decree Sunday reinstated Parliament, revoking the Supreme Council of Armed Forces' June 15 order that Parliament be dissolved.

But after a 12-minute session of Parliament Tuesday, the High Constitutional Court rejected the presidential decree.

Protesters have demanded annulment of the supplementary constitutional declaration under which the military council assumed the powers of the disbanded Parliament until new elections, and called on the council to hand over full power to Morsi, the Middle East News Agency reported. The protesters also rejected the court decision.
