India: 3 dead in Kashmir windstorm

SRINAGAR, India, March 21 (UPI) -- Storms tore through India's Kashmir valley, killing three people and leaving 20 others injured, officials said.

An estimated 10,000 structures were damaged Tuesday and Wednesday in storms that packed winds as high as 34 mph, NDTV and Press Trust of India reported.

One person was killed by a falling tree branch.

The storms, described as cyclone-like, destroyed 29 homes and damaged at least 6,670 other structures, residents told the news agencies.
