TAIPEI, Taiwan, Feb. 26 (UPI) -- Taiwan was shaken by a 5.9-magnitude earthquake Sunday, seismologists said.
The U.S. Geological Survey measured the 10:35 a.m. (Beijing time) quake's epicenter at a depth of 13.9 miles, and 21 miles west-southwest of Taitung, 33 miles east of Kaohsiung, 60 miles south-southeast of Chiayi and 553 miles north of Manila.

China's Xinhua News Agency reported the initial temblor was followed a few minutes later by two tremors with magnitudes of 4 and 4.2.
No casualties had been reported but the quakes could be felt in Taipei, Xinhua said.
