Motorcycle linked to Iranian bombers

BANGKOK, Feb. 19 (UPI) -- Thai police said a motorcycle found abandoned on a Bangkok street was providing more clues about the activities of a suspected Iranian terrorist ring.

The Honda, which was left parked in front of a store, was dusted for fingerprints and traced to a motorcycle shop in the city's Klong Tan area where it had been purchased by one of the five suspects in the ring,

Police said they found a sticker on the seat of the bike with the word "sejeal" on it. Sejeal comes from the Koran and is often used as a nickname for the rockets that Palestinian guerrillas have been lobbing into Israel over the years, the Bangkok Post said Sunday.

National Deputy Police Chief Pansiri Prapawat said investigators were trying to determine if the motorcycle was to have been used in any plot to attack Israeli diplomats or other targets in the Thai capital.

The Post said five individuals had been identified as suspects in the alleged ring, including two who have apparently fled to Iran and two others captured after being injured by an explosion last week not far from where the motorcycle was found.

The fifth suspect has not been identified but police were seeking an arrest warrant, the newspaper said.
