2 bodies found in English pond

CANTERBURY, England, Feb. 1 (UPI) -- A 54-year-old man was detained for questioning Tuesday after the bodies of two young men were pulled from a pond near Canterbury in southeastern England.

Police identified one of the dead as Hugo Wenn, 17, The Daily Telegraph reported. He had been reported missing Saturday and was last seen Friday in Canterbury.

Wenn's body was spotted floating in Reed Pond at about noon Monday by police searching the area in a helicopter. A few hours later, police divers found a second body in the pond, identified by local residents as Daniel Lloyd, in his 20s.

Friends described Wenn as a musician and Lloyd on his Facebook page called himself a street musician. Police said the two young men and the man who is being questioned all knew each other.

Wenn was supposed to meet friends at a Canterbury pub Friday but apparently left before they arrived.

"There was no reason for him to be on that side of town," a friend who wanted to remain anonymous, told the Telegraph. "He didn't know anyone over there, so we are all just confused about what has happened. He was one of the most popular people I knew. He was a real clown and lived for making people laugh. Everyone is just devastated."
