Homemade bomb found in car in Russia

DAGESTAN, Russia, Jan. 8 (UPI) -- Russian security officials disabled a powerful explosive device found in a car in the state of Dagestan.

Federal security service sappers in Dagestan used a hydrodynamic device to destroy the homemade bomb -- a bucket filled with 19 pounds of a mixture of ammonium nitrate and aluminum powder and an improvised detonator, ITAR-Tass reported.

The car was found in a forest near the village of Nechayevka in the Kizilyurt district Saturday, the Russian National Antiterrorist Committee in Dagestan said. The car had registration number plates from another state on it.

An investigation into who the car belonged to and who placed the bomb in it was under way.
