Water level normal in post-flooded Bangkok

BANGKOK, Dec. 23 (UPI) -- Flooding that ravaged all districts of Bangkok for months has subsided, leaving the Thai capital completely flood-free, Bangkok's governor said Friday.

Gov. Sukhumbhand Paribatra said the water level has returned to normal and sewage and drainage workers have pumped remaining floodwaters out of a housing development in a Bangkok neighborhood, the Thai News Agency reported.

Sukhumbhand said city workers have cleaned up more than 644,700 tons of garbage and expect to clear the final 12,000 tons by Sunday night.

Flooding from monsoon rains and tropical storms affected almost 90 percent of the Thailand since late July, affecting more than 13 million people.
