MADRID, Nov. 23 (UPI) -- Spanish King Juan Carlos is sporting a black eye after being hit by a door at his home in Madrid, a spokesman for the royal household said.
The incident happened Tuesday morning at the Palacio de la Zarzuela as the 73-year-old king was reaching to open a door, Think Spain reported.

An aide pushed the door from the other side and the edge struck Juan Carlos in the face.
It hit his nose and left eye, leaving the king with substantial bruising, the spokesperson said.
Despite the injuries, the king managed to carry out his regular duties.
He received credentials from five new ambassadors and was guest of honor at an awards dinner.
