13 die in two Afghan blasts

KABUL, Afghanistan, Nov. 12 (UPI) -- Two bombs, including one that decimated a bus carrying a wedding party, killed at least 13 people Saturday, officials said.

The Afghan president's office said nine people died when a bus was hit by a roadside bomb in Laghman province in eastern Afghanistan, CNN reported.

The Australian Broadcasting Corp. reported on its Web site that the vehicle carried a bride and groom and members of the wedding party.

Khaama Press reported four people died, including two Afghan police officers, in a roadside bomb blast in Herat province later in the day.

Provincial governor spokesman Mohiuddin Noori said the explosion took place about noon on the Islam Qala highway. He said it appeared an explosive device was attached to a bicycle and targeted a convoy of Afghan police force.
