Strauss-Kahn admits 'moral failing'

PARIS, Sept. 18 (UPI) -- Dominique Strauss-Kahn, the former International Monetary Fund head accused of raping a New York hotel maid, denies the crime but admits to a "moral failing."

The 62-year-old French politician, who had been in position for a run for president of France, made the admission Sunday during an interview on the French TV channel TF1. It was his first interview since the U.S. charges against him were dropped Aug. 23.

Strauss-Kahn, who is married, said his sexual encounter with Nafissatou Diallo in May was "a moral failing on my part" but "was not sexual abuse," the BBC reported he said during the interview.

"There were no injuries, no sign of violence, not a scratch," he said, then waved the prosecutors' report and added, "You can read it here."
