Swedish man fined $380 for Nazi salute

VAXSJO, Sweden, Aug. 28 (UPI) -- A Swedish man reportedly under the influence of alcohol was fined $380 for making a Nazi salute and shouting "Heil Hitler," officials said.

The 37-year-old was arrested this spring outside the Sports Restaurant in Vaxsjo when more than a dozen guests complained about his actions, Swedish news agency TT reported Saturday.

The man from Smaland, who was not identified in the report, said he has a habit of talking about Nazis and making the gestures when he is drunk, though he said he has no recollection of the restaurant incident.

A 16-year-old boy from Vastra Gotaland was found guilty in July of the same hate crime for making Nazi gestures at a McDonald's in April, TT said.
