Canadian serial killer up for parole

VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Oct. 7 (UPI) -- Clifford Olson, serving life for the murder of 11 British Columbia children, will have his parole hearing in November, Canadian officials say.

Olson, 70, who pleaded guilty in 1982 to 11 first-degree murder charges and agreed to reveal the locations of his victim's bodies in exchange for $10,000 each, will automatically come up for parole every two years until his death, The Province reported Thursday.

Olson tortured and killed eight boys and three girls between the ages of 9 and 18 and at his 2006 parole hearing board member Jacques Letendre called him "a sexual sadist and a narcissist."

Ray King's only son was 15 when Olson killed him. King says he plans to be at November's hearing despite how difficult it will be, and would like to see the rules changed to keep killers from having regular parole hearings.

"I'd like to be able to fly, but that's not going to happen either," King said. "There's nothing that can be done until he's dead. I'd be glad if he died."
