Gas leak suspected in fatal Scotland blast

EDINBURGH, Scotland, Aug. 4 (UPI) -- Emergency crews reported three deaths Wednesday in the aftermath of a natural gas explosion in an apartment building in Edinburgh, Scotland.

The mid-afternoon blast occurred on Slateford Road and left another person injured, the Scottish Ambulance Service told Sky News.

"The road has been cordoned off and it's swarming with police," said Ann Fairbairn, who works in the area. "Nobody is allowed in or out."

Scottish Gas Networks said a crew of its technicians had been called to the scene as the investigation continued.
