Rodriguez, who most recently was the chief inspector in the Inspection Division at FBI Headquarters, has spent years specializing in the investigation of drug-trafficking organizations.

"During two tours in the Washington Field Office, Mr. Rodriguez worked as undercover agent in counter-intelligence, public corruption, and drug investigations. He also served in the San Juan Division, investigating counter-terrorism and criminal matters," the release said.

Rodriguez was part of the development team for the National Drug Intelligence Center in Johnstown, Pa., and supervisor of the Organized Crime, Drug and Criminal Enterprise Investigation Squad in Milwaukee.

Rodriguez was also assistant special agent in charge of the Jacksonville, Fla., office, where he was the scene commander for the 2004 G8 Summit. He was also intricately involved with managing the FBI's resources during Super Bowl XXXIX among notable assignments.
