CHONGQING, China, May 31 (UPI) -- An excessive amount of explosives killed 30 workers and seriously injured 59 in a coal mine in southwest China, federal mining officials said.
Managers of the Tonghua mine in Qijiang County put production ahead of worker safety and failed to evacuate the mine before detonating the explosives Saturday, said Zhao Tiechui, who heads the State Administration of Coal Mine Safety.
