Former coach sentenced for molesting girl

MIRAMAR, Fla., March 10 (UPI) -- Authorities in Miramar, Fla., say a former high school security guard and coach has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for molesting a girl at the school.

Alain Cupas, 30, was sentenced Monday for three counts of lewd or lascivious molestation against a 15-year-old girl in 2007, The Miami Herald reported Tuesday.

Cupas, who also was a part-time wrestling coach at Everglades High School, was accused of forcibly kissing the girl, touching her breasts and genitals and forcing her to touch him. Cupas had been assigned to walk the girl to internal suspension at the school, prosecutors said.

In trial testimony, two other girls told similar stories about run-ins with Cupas, who was sentenced by Broward Circuit Judge Susan Lebow.

Lebow gave Cupas two consecutive 15-year terms with credit for the 38 days he has been in jail since his conviction, the Herald reported.
