Secret Service officer nabbed in sex sting

WASHINGTON, Nov. 10 (UPI) -- A U.S. Secret Service sergeant was arrested after allegedly asking for sex from an undercover Washington officer posing as a prostitute, officials said.

The sergeant was driving his Secret Service vehicle and was in uniform when he met the undercover officer early Saturday, Inspector Brian Bray, commander of the District's narcotics and special investigations division, said.

Bray said the woman agreed to perform oral sex for $20 and told the sergeant to meet her around the corner, where he was arrested by other officers The Washington Post reported Monday.

The sergeant's name was withheld by police. He was released after being charged with soliciting a prostitute, which upon conviction carries a 180-day jail sentence.

The Secret Service said the man will face an internal investigation as well as the criminal case, and will be placed on paid administrative leave pending the outcome, the Post reported.
