Convictions earned for stolen wine sales

SANTA ROSA, Calif., Nov. 6 (UPI) -- Authorities in Sonoma County, Calif., say they have convicted three men in relation to the online sale of high-end wines stolen from an area wine company.

Authorities said former Jackson Family Wines warehouse employee Jordan Patrick Crass pleaded no contest to charges he stole at least $100,000 worth of unreleased wines from the company in Windsor, Calif., and then sold the products online, the San Francisco Chronicle said Thursday.

Defendants Kevin Hall, 30, and Jarrett Berg, 29, have both been convicted of buying those products online through postings on the networking Web site, Craigslist, authorities said.

The pair, who also entered no contest pleas to related charges, then sold the wines to merchants.

Hall and Berg were sentenced to five months and three months in jail, respectively, for their misdemeanor possession of stolen property conviction. Each also received two years of probation and was ordered to pay restitution to Jackson Family Wines.

The Chronicle said Crass is scheduled for sentencing Dec. 1 for his conviction on six felony counts ranging from burglary to grand theft.
