WASHINGTON, May 28 (UPI) -- Top U.S. military personnel have been ordered to start security planning for the transition period following the November election, CNN reported.

CNN says the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, U.S. Navy Adm, Michael Mullen, has called for the establishment of a military team to identify possible vulnerabilities during the transition period.

A military official with knowledge of the chairman's actions told CNN there is no current intelligence indicating a specific threat to the country.

However, he said Mullen is planning for the potential of "foes that want to take advantage" of that time frame.

The team will also take responsibility for briefing the president-elect on the country's top military issues, CNN said.
