AMSTETTEN, Austria, May 2 (UPI) -- A 19-year-old woman who allegedly spent her entire life locked in a house cellar in Austria by her father is unlikely to survive, doctors said Friday.
If Kerstin Fritzl dies, Josef Fritzl, charged with fathering six children with his daughter, could face a murder charge, The Telegraph reported.
"If the young woman dies we will look at bringing charges against the accused for murder through negligence," a spokesman for prosecutors said.
A spokesman for the hospital where she is being treated said that Kerstin Fritzl, in critical condition, has multiple organ failures and is in a coma.
Fritzl allegedly imprisoned his daughter, Elisabeth, in a dungeon he constructed under his house. Three of their six children remained with their mother, while three lived upstairs with Fritzl and his wife.
Elisabeth Fritzl and two of her sons are also hospitalized. Doctors said that the three are in a special unit with low lights. The light level is gradually being increased.
