India, Saudi Arabia plan joint ventures

RIYADH, Saudi Arabia, April 21 (UPI) -- Saudi Arabia reportedly has welcomed Indian companies seeking opportunities in its energy sector through joint ventures.

The issue came up during talks between visiting Indian Foreign Minister Pranab Mukherjee and his Saudi counterpart, Saud Bin Al-Faisal, in Riyadh, the Press Trust of India reported Monday.

India, whose demand for energy has shot up as a result of its booming economy, needs to widen its exploration opportunities in oil-rich regions of the world.

India and Saudi Arabia also agreed to set up a joint investment fund to enable the two countries to boost two-way trade and investment.
