Hu spoke during his meeting with Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapakse, one of the leaders attending the meeting.

Without any reference to the protests around the world by pro-Tibetan and human rights activists against China's human rights record, Hu said the Games meet the aspiration of the Chinese people and the common expectation of people worldwide, the report said.

Rajapakse expressed his country's support for the Games and said any attempt to undermine the event was doomed to fail, the report said.

The Sri Lankan leader also was quoted as saying his country firmly adhered to the one-China policy and expressing support for the Chinese government on Taiwan and Tibet issues.
