French court vindicates blogger

PARIS, March 30 (UPI) -- A Parisian court has vindicated an English woman who was fired for allegedly bringing her employers into disrepute by writing about them on her Internet blog.

Catherine Sanderson, whose daily blog was said to be the equivalent of "Bridget Jones in Paris," has been awarded $60,000 for wrongful dismissal, The Daily Telegraph reported.

Sanderson, 34, was fired from secretarial job at the Paris office of the British accounting firm of Dixon Wilson after she posted two photographs of herself on a site where she wrote under the pseudonym "petite anglaise."

Lawyers for Dixon Wilson said Sanderson's dismissal was justified because she wasted time blogging at work, lied about her whereabouts on two occasions and risked sullying the company's reputation by writing about her job.

Publicity surrounding her dismissal prompted up to 30,000 people to log onto her blog daily at petiteanglaise.com.
