BEIJING, Sept. 15 (UPI) -- A senior Finance Ministry official in China has been sentenced to life in prison for allegedly accepting bribes totaling about $267,500.
The official Xinhua news agency said the accused Xu Fangming had been director of ministry's finance department.

The court accused Xu of helping the head of an investment consultancy firm win a $50 million car-leasing contract in exchange for the bribes.
