2nd mistrial for John Gotti

NEW YORK, March 11 (UPI) -- A federal judge in New York has dismissed the jury deciding the fate of John A. Gotti, son of the famous "Dapper Don," in a second mistrial in six months.

The younger Gotti is charged with running the Gambino crime family. He says that he decided to go straight eight years ago when he saw what his life in the mob was doing to his wife and children.

On Friday, after less than two days of deliberations, jurors notified the judge that they were "completely DEADLOCKED," the New York Times said, reporting that the note included a number of words in capital letters.

"No juror can find it in their conscience to change their mind, based on our interpretation of the evidence," the jury said.

Prosecutors plan to try Gotti a third time on the racketeering charge.

The elder Gotti died in prison in 2002. His widow, Victoria, told reporters after the mistrial was declared that prosecutors were trying to railroad her son.
