Sen. McCain and wife to sell mansion

PHOENIX, Nov. 2 (UPI) -- Arizona Sen. John McCain and his wife are selling their Phoenix mansion but if you want to tour the home, you have to prove you can buy it.

The Arizona Republic reports would-be buyers must have a lender's note that they are good for the $4.25 million price tag the McCain's are asking.

The 11,171-square-foot home, which includes a 1,750-square-foot guesthouse, was featured in the July issue of Architectural Digest.

Cindy McCain grew up in the home, although it has been renovated and expanded to include nine bedrooms and eight bathrooms.

It also has a surveillance system.

The couple is selling to move into a smaller house.

McCain, a former Republican presidential candidate, may run in 2008 but is waiting until after the 2006 congressional elections to decide.
