12-year-old Lebanese passes high school

BEIRUT, Lebanon, July 20 (UPI) -- An outstanding 12-year-old Lebanese girl passed high school exams successfully and is preparing to enter college next year, reports said Wednesday.

The National News Agency said Iqbal Mahmoud Asaad had to obtain special permission to sit for the official exam from the education ministry.

Asaad's father, Mahmoud, said his daughter completed elementary school in three years, intermediate school in two years and secondary grades in three years and she is preparing to join college next year.

She will be the youngest college student in Lebanon's history.
