Mexico releases ex-president's brother

MEXICO CITY, June 10 (UPI) -- Mexican officials have ordered the release from prison of Raul Salinas de Gortari, brother of former President Carlos Salinas de Gortari.

Raul Salinas spent 10 years in prisons for ordering the assassination of a politician in 1994.

Judicial authorities said the evidence against him was insufficient and his case thrown out, El Universal newspaper reported Friday.

The ex-president's other brother, the late Enrique Salinas de Gortari, is at a center on an ongoing investigation into his death.

Enrique Salinas was found dead in his car in December 2004 with a note detailing his recent financial difficulties, El Universal reported Monday.
