Note on restaurant window attacks judge

CHICAGO, May 15 (UPI) -- The judge whose husband and mother were killed in February was harassed by an abusive note in the window of a Chicago restaurant where she was dining.

Police said that the note contained "derogatory, profane words" directed at U.S. District Judge Joan Lefkow but did not directly threaten her, the Chicago Tribune reported Sunday.

Federal marshals discovered the message in the window of the Amarit Thai Restaurant while the judge was eating, police spokesman Hector Alfaro said. Witnesses said a man placed the note in the window.

Lefkow's husband and mother were found dead in their home Feb. 28. A disgruntled plaintiff who killed himself as police closed in was identified as the killer.

Lefkow had also been threatened by white supremacists who posted her address on the Internet.
