TAIPEI, Taiwan, Aug. 29 (UPI) -- Forensic experts have said locating the pistol used in the March 19 attack on Thai President Chen Shui-bian might be key to solving the case.
Expert Henry Lee said the manufacturing process of the bullet used in the election-eve attack on Chen and Vice President Annette Lu may also be a vital clue, the Taipei Times reported Sunday.
"The police can narrow down the scope of their investigation by determining how the bullet was manufactured, because it may have been made with special tools," Lee told reporters, after completing his comprehensive report on the assassination attempt.
Lee presented the report to Andrew Hsia, representative of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in New York. The report will be handed over to State Public Prosecutor General Lu Ren-fa.
Lee led ballistic experts to Taiwan in April to visit the crime scene and collaborate with officials.
Lee has confirmed that Chen had suffered a bullet wound across his abdomen.
