Heinz Kerry campaigs on women's issues

WASHINGTON, Aug. 24 (UPI) -- Teresa Heinz Kerry, wife of Democratic nominee John F. Kerry, is talking about the economic pressures facing women as she campaigns in targeted states.

Heinz Kerry, her husband's presidential campaign said, is scheduled to appear this week in West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Ohio and Michigan, where she will talk with women about the rising costs of healthcare in the United States and the economic pressures women must confront in the current economy.

On Wednesday Heinz Kerry, who controls a family fortune worth nearly $1 billion according to some published estimates, is scheduled to appear at a crisis shelter in New Castle, Pa. According to the campaign, she will speak with area women about the economy and prescription drug costs, issues the campaign said she had, "addressed through her philanthropic work aimed at helping women achieve economic security."
