Nader chooses Edwards -- as Kerry's VP

WASHINGTON, June 24 (UPI) -- After choosing his running mate, U.S. presidential candidate Ralph Nader urged likely Democratic nominee Sen. John Kerry to pick Sen. John Edwards as his own.

Edwards has "already gone through a primary campaign and has his rhythm and oratory ... all well honed," Nader wrote of the senator from North Carolina in an open letter to Kerry, The Los Angeles Times reported Thursday.

"We appreciate every suggestion," said Kerry spokeswoman Stephanie Cutter. "But John Kerry is determined to keep this process private and will make his announcement once the decision's made."

Kerry and Nader met in May to discuss common interests and common goals, not the least of which is defeating President George Bush in November's election.
