Rams agree to deal Ogletree to Giants

The Los Angeles Rams continued to shake up their roster on Wednesday.

The Rams agreed to trade linebacker Alec Ogletree and a 2019 seventh-round draft pick to the New York Giants for the Giants' 2018 fourth- and sixth-round draft picks, multiple media outlets reported.

The fourth-round pick the Rams will receive is the Giants' second selection of that round and is a compensatory pick.

The trade cannot be officially announced until March 14, when the league year begins.

Ogletree signed a four-year, $42 million contract extension with the Rams in October, with $33 million paid out in the first three years of the deal.

The Giants are likely to switch from a 4-3 defense to a 3-4 under new defensive coordinator James Bettcher, so they need linebackers. Devon Kennard and Jonathan Casillas, both of whom were starting linebackers for the Giants in 2017, are scheduled to become free agent later this month.

Ogletree, 26, had 95 tackles, 2.0 sacks, one interception and one forced fumble last season in 15 games, all as a starter.

This is the latest of several significant moves made by Rams general manager Les Snead recently. The Rams agreed to acquire cornerback Marcus Peters from the Kansas City Chiefs and also agreed to trade defensive end Robert Quinn to the Miami Dolphins.
