While eight teams remain in contention to play in Super Bowl LII, the NFL announced on Monday that versatile singer Pink will perform in the big game on Feb. 4 in Minneapolis.

Pink will sing the national anthem prior to kickoff at U.S. Bank Stadium, the league announced.

The Super Bowl appearance will be the first for the 38-year-old Pink, who recently teased a big announcement on Twitter.

"I'm really looking forward to 2018," Pink tweeted. "I'm really excited about the Grammys. Tour. Some other stuff that's a secret still and I can't wait til it's not a secret."

Pink will follow in the footsteps of fellow singers Luke Bryan, Lady Gaga, Idina Menzel, Kelly Clarkson and Alicia Keys to perform "The Star-Spangled Banner" at the big game.

Justin Timberlake will be the halftime performer at Super Bowl LII, with his previous appearance in that role being best remembered for the infamous "wardrobe malfunction" involving Janet Jackson. The 36-year-old Timberlake was performing "Rock Your Body" with Jackson at Super Bowl XXXVIII in 2004 when he pulled off part of her costume, revealing one of her breasts for approximately half a second.

The display resulted in the Federal Communications Commission requiring that halftime shows air on a five-second broadcast delay.

Both Timberlake and Pink will have released new albums in time for the Super Bowl. Pink dropped her latest, "Beautiful Trauma," in October, while Timberlake is set to unveil, "Man of the Woods," on Feb. 2.
