Cleveland Cavaliers: Isaiah Thomas to practice with Canton of G League

The Cleveland Cavaliers assigned two-time All-Star guard Isaiah Thomas to the Canton Charge of the G League, the team announced Thursday.

Thomas is expected to practice with the Charge as he continues to work his way back from a hip injury that caused him to sit out each of the Cavaliers' games this season.

The 28-year-old was acquired by Cleveland in the blockbuster offseason deal that saw Kyrie Irving head to the Boston Celtics.

Thomas averaged a career-best 28.9 points, 5.9 assists and 2.7 rebounds per game last season for the Celtics, who secured the best record in the East and advanced to the conference final before falling to the Cavaliers.

Cleveland also sent center Ante Zizic to Canton on Thursday. Zizic, who has appeared in 11 games with the Cavaliers, is averaging 15.8 points and 8.5 rebounds in 23.5 minutes in four contests versus the Charge.
