LaVar Ball: Michael Jordan says he could beat 'Big Baller' one-legged

Aug. 1 (UPI) -- One man is the greatest basketball player of all time and the other man is LaVar Ball. Michael Jordan recently put the "Big Baller" in his place at his basketball camp.

Jordan, who is in California for his annual Flight School, was asked about Ball Tuesday by his campers. Ball is the father to Los Angeles Lakers rookie Lonzo Ball and his two basketball star brothers.

Ball claimed earlier this year that he could beat the Chicago Bulls legend in a game of one-on-one.

"You got to understand the source," Jordan said at the camp, according to Bay Area HQ. "I think he played college, maybe? He averaged 2.2 points a game. Really? It doesn't deserve a response, but I'ma give it to you because you asked the question. I don't think he could beat me if I was one-legged."

Ball, 48, scored 58 career points in one season for Washington State in 1987.

"Look, every parent is very proud of their kids," Jordan said. "I don't discourage that. I think the kid is really good. I think he has the potential to be a good player. His father is very proud of him - of all his kids, I would assume - like any father would be proud of their kids, but I would say, if I had to sit down and talk to him right now, if he was here, I would tell him to shut up and let the kids play."

Ball responded to Jordan's hot take on social media.

"Michael, you vs. Lavar | 1 v 1 | you with 1 leg, Lavar with 1 arm. Has to be on Pay-Per-View. Let's make it happen. YOU WON'T," Ball posted on social media, along with a meme of Crying Jordan.

He also went on ESPN Radio to talk about his comeback.

"Look at everybody, man. Everybody used to say, 'You know, I think Wilt Chamberlain is better than Shaq; I think Oscar Robertson is better than LeBron.' Now the story is LaVar is better than Michael Jordan," Ball told The Really Big Show on ESPN 850 WKNR in Cleveland.

"C'mon, I didn't even play basketball in the pros and they're talking about me and Michael Jordan. That's what I'm talking about. He tells me he can beat me with one leg. Well, guess what: I can beat him with one hand. Now we both look like we out there like we can't play."

Jordan, 54, still has plenty of game. On Monday, he joined former teammate Scottie Pippen at the camp to show off his wet jump shot.
