Cleveland Cavaliers' Kevin Love to miss six weeks after knee surgery

Cleveland Cavaliers forward Kevin Love underwent successful arthroscopic surgery to remove a loose body from his left knee in New York City on Tuesday morning and is expected to miss six weeks.

Love's procedure was performed by Dr. David Altchek at the Hospital for Special Surgery. Dr. James Rosneck of the Cleveland Clinic was also present for the surgery.

Love was ruled out for Tuesday's game against his former team, the Minnesota Timberwolves, on Sunday with left knee soreness and swelling. Dr. Rosneck evaluated Love's knee the same day.

According to the Cavaliers, Love sustained the injury during the team's 125-109 win over the Denver Nuggets on Saturday.

Love was scheduled to represent Cleveland along with teammates LeBron James and Kyrie Irving at the NBA All-Star Game next Sunday in New Orleans.

The 28-year-old and four-time All-Star is Cleveland's leading rebounder (11.1 per game) and third-leading scorer (20 points per game) over 46 games this season.

The Cavaliers (37-16) have a two-game lead over the Boston Celtics for the top spot in the Eastern Conference.
