Cleveland Cavaliers sign Dahntay Jones for stretch run

CLEVELAND, April 13 (UPI) -- LeBron James and company added some much needed veteran depth at the guard position Wednesday, with the signing of Dahntay Jones.

Jones, 35, was selected with the No. 20 pick in the 2003 NBA Draft. After being taken by Boston, he was traded to the Memphis Grizzlies, where he spent his first four seasons. Jones then had stints with Sacramento, Denver, Indiana, Dallas, Atlanta, and the Los Angeles Clippers. Jones has averaged 5.4 points, 1.7 rebounds, and 0.8 assists per game in 622 career contests.

Jones played in 43 games this season for the Grand Rapids Drive in the NBA Development League. He averaged 15.7 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game.

The guard is expected to wear No. 30 and is active for the playoffs, according to the Cleveland Cavaliers.
