Andy Murray advances in Queen's Club play

Top-seeded Andy Murray cruised to a 6-3, 6-4 victory over British countryman Aljaz Bedene in the second round of the Aegon Championships at Queen's Club, London.

Murray needed just 83 minutes to dispose of Bedene as he seeks a record fifth title at the Queen's Club.

Murray next faces another Brit in Kyle Edmund, who advanced when France's Paul-Henri Mathieu pulled out with a wrist injury.

Seventh-seeded American John Isner failed to convert any of his 10 match points and succumbed to Gilles Muller of Luxembourg. Isner delivered 43 aces in a marathon match that saw Muller stave off elimination by winning a second-set 18-16 tiebreaker en route to the 3-6, 7-6 (16), 7-6 (7) victory.

Third-seeded Canadian Milos Raonic moved on with a 7-5, 7-6 (6) victory over Jiri Vesely of the Czech Republic. Australian Bernard Tomic also advanced with a 6-7 (2), 6-4, 6-4 victory over Spain's Fernando Verdasco.

Gerry Weber Open

Top-seeded Roger Federer reached the quarterfinals of the Gerry Weber Open by posting a 6-3, 7-5 victory over Tunisia's Malek Jaziri at Halle, Germany on Thursday.

Federer trailed 4-1 in the second set before rallying to close out the victory.

Federer next meets fifth-seeded David Goffin. The Belgian prevailed 4-6, 7-5, 2-0 when Ukraine's Sergiy Stakhovski retired.

Third-seeded Austrian Dominic Thiem advanced with a 6-4, 6-1 win over Russia's Teymuraz Gabashvili, and eighth-seeded German Philipp Kohlschreider knocked off Croatia's Ivo Karlovic 6-7 (7), 6-4, 7-5.

Aegon Classic

Jelena Ostapenko of Latvia advanced by recording a 6-4, 4-6, 6-3 upset of fifth-seeded Petra Kvitova in the second round of the Aegon Classic at Birmingham, England.

Seventh-seeded American Madison Keys cruised to a 6-1, 6-3 victory over Austria's Tamira Paszek.

Ninth-seeded Johanna Konta of Great Britain swept Japan's Misaki Doi 7-6 (3), 6-1, and Bulgaria's Tsvetana Pironkova defeated Romania's Irina Begu 6-3, 6-3.

Mallorca Open

Sixth-seeded Caroline Garcia of France held off a challenge from Germany's Anna-Lena Friedsam to register a 6-4, 7-6 (8) victory in the second round of the Mallorca Open in Spain.

Third-seeded Ana Ivanovic of Serbia was dominant while thrashing Spain's Sara Sorribes Tormo 6-1, 6-0.

Paraguay's Veronica Cepede Royg upset seventh-seeded Laura Siegemund of Germany 7-6 (5), 3-6, 7-5, and Belguim's Kirsten Flipkens defeated Puerto Rico's Monica Puig 6-3, 6-4.
